Interested applicants are invited to apply for the Chick Evans Scholarship For Caddies 2019-2020. The Western Golf Association encourages the use of young caddies and supports the efforts of the Evans Scholars Foundation to provide scholarships and full housing to caddies with exceptional performance and limited financial means.
                                     
The Evans Scholarship is a comprehensive scholarship for high-performance students with limited financial means. To qualify, caddies must meet the requirement of having a good caddie history, excellent academics, financial need, and exceptional character.
Notwithstanding, acceptance of Scholarship applications is usually at the beginning of the last year of the candidate’s high school, as well as freshmen.

More About the Chick Evans Scholarship For Caddies

In 1930, the Western Golf Association and famed amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr. founded the Evans Scholars Foundation. The mission of the Foundation was to provide full tuition and college scholarships to caddies with limited financial means.
The first two Evans Scholars enrolled at Northwestern University in 1930. Since then, more than 10,830 outstanding young men and women have graduated as Evans Scholars. This year, 985 Evans Scholars are enrolled in 18 major universities across the country.

Evans Scholarship Houses

The foundation sends Evans Scholars to 18 major universities across the country. They live and work together in the community; each section chooses its own officers, leads social and service activities and participates in programs on campus.
Evans Scholars Foundation believes community life is essential because it helps scholars develop strong leadership skills and communication skills. The support system and the sense of empowerment promoted in the scholarship houses are largely responsible for the graduation rate of the program, which is 95%, and the tremendous success of the alumni.

Level/Field of Study

The Chick Evans scholarship for caddies is open to the following applicants:
  • Applicants who are about to begin their senior year in high school and also,
  • Incoming college freshmen for their chosen field in the undergraduate program.

Host Nationality

This scholarship is hosted by the Western Golf Association and the Evans Scholars Foundation in the USA.

Eligible Nationality

To be an Evans Scholar, an applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
The Chick Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means.

Eligibility For the Chick Evans Scholarship For Caddies

To qualify, interested caddies must meet the following requirements:
  • Strong caddie record: Applicants must have caddied, successfully and regularly, for a minimum of two years, Also, must be a caddie and/or working at their sponsoring club during the summer when applying for their scholarship.
  • Excellent academics record: Candidates must have completed their junior year of high school with an average higher than B in college preparatory courses and are required to take the ACT and/or SAT.
  • Demonstrated financial need: Applicants must clearly state their need for financial assistance.
    Outstanding character: Candidates must be exceptional in character, integrity, and leadership.

Application Timetable For the Evans Scholarship

Below are important dates aspiring Evans Scholars are to take note of:
August 1: Application available online. Check the information on the website.
October 1: The CSS financial aid profile is available. Notwithstanding, applicants are to complete the CSS Profile online and send it to CSS with the required fee as soon as possible. The CSS code for the Evans Scholars Foundation is 0153.
Also, you can file the FAFSA online on October 1. However, present a copy of your Federal Student Financial Assistance Report (FAFSA) with the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) Number as it becomes available.
October 30: Caddies must complete applications, including all supporting documentation.
Supporting Documents:
  • Completed CSS profile
  • Federal student aid report on the FAFSA
  • High school evaluation
  • Cadet evaluation
  • Letters of recommendation
  • High School transcript and test scores.
April 1: Taking of final decisions on all applications.
Applicants must apply online.
